Coronation Street star Sally Carman, 49, is married to co-star Joe Duttine, 54, in real-life, but she’d prefer not to work with him!
The Abi Webster actress met husband Joe on set after her arrival in 2017, and the pair tied the knot in 2022, after having to delay their wedding due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
On-screen, Abi has had a busy year, having been diagnosed with PTSD after Mason Radcliffe’s death and dealing with husband Kevin Webster’s (Michael Le Vell) testicular cancer diagnosis.
Their relationship has been tense over the past few weeks, and things are only set to get worse now that Carl Webster (Jonathan Howard) has set his sights on his sister-in-law.
‘Kevin’s pushing her away quite a lot because of this illness,’ actress Sally explained. ‘He’s trying to fight it in his own way and he’s scared.
‘In his fear he’s secluding himself a little bit and that’s quite hard for Abi. She has got her own stuff she’s dealing with and you kick off to the people you’re close to a lot of the time, or you let out those feelings with the person you’re closest to. That’s Abi.

‘She’s been struggling with one thing or another for a very long time so this guy coming in who just adores her and fancies her and has awoken this life in her, she finds irresistible. It’s going to be very hard for Abi to fight this.’
Thankfully, Sally’s real-life marriage to Tim Metcalfe star Joe is much more stable.
‘I’m enjoying married life,’ Sally told The Mirror. ‘Joe is awesome – I’ve lucked out big time. He’s my buddy and also I like to kiss him.’
‘I love him – but I don’t like working with him!’
Despite their relationship being in a good place, Sally has revealed thatshe doesn’t like working with her husband.
‘I loveJoeto bits, but I don’t like working with him – I’m never going to like working with him,’ she confessed.
‘Bless him, we’ve got very different work processes – let’s just put it like that. I like to come fully prepared and he likes to flesh it out on the floor.
‘Also, he’s very funny. I’m such a giggler and once I’ve gone, I’m gone. It’s terrible and even if people get annoyed about it, it doesn’t help.
‘He absolutely makes me howl with laughter and he does it on purpose. I get cross with him because he knows the situation, but he can’t help himself.’
